SEED (Social, Emotional, & Ethical Development)
The SEED Story
Bodhi Love Foundation launches the SEED (Social, Emotional, Ethical Development) Program that fosters the critical skills for the development of self-awareness, empathy and interconnectedness in young children.
SEED focuses on social and emotional skills that are intimately linked with cognitive development:
- It is a SEE-based approach to education that goes beyond the typical emphasis on “reading, writing, arithmetic”;
- It aims to plant a seed of inner transformation – to set our children up for the best possible trajectory in life.
- Foster positive child development: self-esteem, self-regulation, decision making, morality, connectedness
- Enhance academic performance
- Nurture empathy and encourage altruistic behavior
- Promote stress coping and resilience
- Inspire courage to discover meaning and pursue mission in life
- Support personal and career development of teachers
- The foundation of the KC is mindfulness practice and it includes 8 themes that ranges from awareness, self-regulation, and emotion management to the development of compassionate and altruistic behaviors. It aims at cultivating attention and emotion regulation, with a shared emphasis on kindness practices. The Curriculum incorporates children’s literature, music, and movement to teach and stabilize concepts related to self-awareness, kindness, and interdependence.
- The children will receive the KC in 20 to 30 minutes lessons, 2 or 3 lessons each week, and over the course of a semester. The Curriculum is secular and is taught by regular classroom teachers after they receive training in the core elements of well-being (awareness, connection, insight, and purpose).
- SEED offers professional training to teachers who are interested to bring the Kindness Curriculum to their classrooms. The training program will help teachers gain an understanding of and personal experience with the core practices and attitudes of mindfulness.
- Apart from being trained to implement the Kindness Curriculum, teachers will also:
SEE Learning

- Based on years of robust scientific research by experts from multiple disciplines
- The Kindness Curriculum is developed within the pedagogical framework of SEE Learning.

Kindness Curriculum
It is highly recommended that an instructor intending to teach the Curriculum should gain an understanding of and personal experience with the core practices and attitudes of mindfulness prior to implementation of the Curriculum. Mindfulness practices require consistent repetition and use in daily experiences to become a part of how we interact in classrooms and the world.
The Kindness Curriculum can be offered as it is or it can incorporate other evidence-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices a given classroom or district may be implementing. The intention is that the Kindness Curriculum aids in creating classrooms that support mindful care, kindness and, ultimately, learning for both children and instructors alike.
