Mr. Samuel Yung is an Executive District Director & Honorable Advisor of AIA International Limited. He is Vice Chairman of the Committee for Economic Affairs, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and Founding President of Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association.

Mr. Yung has strong ties with the tertiary education sector. He is a Council Member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and a Court Member of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU). Previously, Mr. Yung served as a member of the International Advisory Board of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a Council Member cum Advisory Committee Chairman of the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) of PolyU, a Council Member of OUHK, and a Member of Vocational Training Council (VTC) and other education related public positions.

Mr. Yung has been committed to social and community services. Appointed by the HKSAR Government, Mr. Yung is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority and a Council Member cum Finance Committee Chairman of the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries. He previously served as Chairman of Betting and Lotteries Commission, a member of the Medical Sub-group of the Steering Committee on Strategic Review on Healthcare Manpower Planning and Professional Development, a member of the Advisory Committee of the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, a member of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee, a member of the School Allocation Committee, a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit, a Committee Member of the Commission on Strategic Development and other government-appointed public positions.

For years, Mr. Yung has been committed to promoting the professional development of the life insurance industry in Hong Kong and enhancing it to international levels. He is the current Honorary Chairman for Hong Kong and Macau of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants. He was President of the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong (LUAHK) and the General Agents and Managers Association of Hong Kong (GAMAHK). He was also Co-chairman of Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council (APLIC), Director cum Chairman of International Committee of GAMA International, Co-chairman of Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress and other industry professional bodies. In 2013, Mr. Yung, in cohort with the insurance industry, initiated the establishment of the Industry Concern Group (ICG). As the co-convener of ICG, he has been paying close attention to the regulation and development of the industry, and putting forward valuable opinions on the establishment of the Insurance Authority independent of the government.

Mr. Yung was elected Hong Kong’s ‘Ten Outstanding Young Persons’ in 1994 and served as Chairman of the Outstanding Young Persons’ Association from 2000 to 2002. He was conferred an Honorary University Fellowship by the OUHK in 2015. Besides, Mr. Yung was awarded a Medal of Honour (2001), appointed Justice of Peace (2007) and awarded a Silver Bauhinia Star (2011) by the HKSAR Government.

He holds an EMBA from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and various professional qualifications, including CFPCM, RFC, FChFP, ChLP, CMFA and CIAM.
